"Bienvenue Chez Moi!"

An American In Brittany Bed and Breakfast is located in Cotes d’Armor, along the GR34 national coastal walking path and bicycle route. This cozy Breton stone home directly overlooks the sea, a forest, a river, and natural gardens… butterflies and birds beckon you to stay awhile, breathe deeply, and step away from everyday life.

Bonjour!  Hello!

Cheryl Ward, An American In Brittany.

          “An American In Brittany”

I’m Cheryl Ward, the owner and your personal host, at An American In Brittany Bed and Breakfast.

Here in St. Michel en Greve, the Cotes d’Armor region of Brittany, France, I’m candidly called “L’Americain” (The American).

Living in this northwest region of France, on the Granite Rose Coast, I find myself discovering a new way of life! Waking up with the birds, gazing at the sea, and staring endlessly at the flittering butterflies and starry nights…I just wonder…”How I was lucky enough to find this paradise?”

While Brittany is known for it’s unique microclimate, breathtaking coastlines, rolling countryside, and unspoiled natural environment, this alone could not transform my two day visit into more than ten years!

Travelers from around the world step into my home, sip a cup of coffee with me, and wonder, “WHY does an American choose to live in this countryside village, by the sea, so far from her native Florida? …and HOW did I find this particular village, St. Michel en Greve? A little town of 476 people…away from typical tourist cities that Americans normally visit?”

Well, there’s much to share, no one quick answer can suffice…I guess that’s why some guests come for a day and then decide to stay for weeks! Maybe they want to practice their English…or maybe help me to improve my French! But one thing is sure, there’s never a dull moment here! The people, food, linens, and stories change daily, but that’s part of the fun and unique experience of staying at An American in Brittany Bed & Breakfast!

Please feel at home, roam around my site, and think about visiting me here in Brittany. I would love to share some delightful stories of special guests, delightful moments, discoveries, challenges, and fun, over the ten years since beginning my re-invented life in France.  I hope to share some of my day to day experiences, photos, unique guests, friends, meals, recipes, stories and laughter with you! As we sometimes say in the South… Thank you and “See ya’ll soon!”

Merci et Abientot!

Cheryl Ward
